“What are all these?" Clary asked.
"Vials
of holy water, blessed knives, steel and silver blades," Jace said, piling
the weapons on the floor beside him, "electrum wire - not much use at the
moment but it's always good to have spares - silver bullets, charms of
protetion, crucifixes, stars of David-"
"Jesus,"
said Clary
"I
doubt he'd fit."
"Jace."
Clary was appalled.”

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people
often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I
don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man
who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a
great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man
who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must
make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman
or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and
kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but
let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human
teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”

“Because God has made us for Himself, our hearts are restless until they rest
in Him.”
4.
“The moment God is figured out with nice neat lines and definitions, we are no
longer dealing with God.”
5.
“Just keep asking yourself: What would Jesus not do?”
6.
“The irony is that while God doesn’t need us but still wants us, we desperately
need God but don’t really want Him most of the time.”
7.
“Anything under God's control is never out of control.”
8.
“Our tendency in the midst of suffering is to turn on God. To get angry and
bitter and shake our fist at the sky and say, "God, you don't know what
it's like! You don't understand! You have no idea what I'm going through. You
don't have a clue how much this hurts."
9.
“Every day people are straying away from the church and going back to God.”
10.
“Turn around and believe that the good news that we are loved is better than we
ever dared hope, and that to believe in that good news, to live out of it and
toward it, to be in love with that good news, is of all glad things in this
world the gladdest thing of all. Amen, and come Lord Jesus.”
